Butted Steel Chainmail Coif

SKU#: 300188
MSRP:$59.95
Price: $49.95

Our Butted Steel Coif is the least expensive mail we've ever offered! Mail was celebrated in poetry and the sagas, being referred to as the (Shirt of Odin), the Byrnie, hard and hand linked and the Net of Battle. This coif features 1.5mm links in the international pattern - 4 links through a 5th - common to all European mail. Faithfully copied from examples in museums and private collections, it can be worn with or without a helmet. Outer link diameter of each link is about 7/16 of an inch, inner link diameter about 3/8 of an inch. We recommend keeping this butted steel mail oiled at all times.

Butted, 16 Gauge Rings
Mail coif features a 3/8 inch inner diameter

We used to make these out of bailing wire back in the 1970. The rested patina sold well. Now I'd rather someone else do the work. It's butted, so you'll need to be gentle. Might want to weld the key ring and the first rings at the cupola. Still, as described. Fair price, good product. Oh, and you'll need a quilted arming cap with this, or prolonged wear will make it uncomfortable.
