Zugaikotsu Honsanmai Laminated Shinken

The BattleBlades katana features a unique design with a skull-themed tsuba and skeletal fuchi and kashira components crafted from antiqued metal. The blade is made using traditional techniques, with panels of folded steel laminated together to create a composite blade construction. The blade is made from several components of 1095 steel, which are folded to remove impurities, and then forge-welded together to create a laminated blade with a hard steel edge. The blade has been differentially-tempered with clay to further harden the blade edge, resulting in a hardness of 59-60 HRc on the edge and 40-45 HRc on the spine and body of the blade.

The blade has been hand-polished to bring out the visible ripple-pattern Hada of the folded steel, the hamon line, and the thin line that denotes where the laminated edge of the blade melds into the body of the blade. The blade has no bo-hi groove and retains a thickened spine to ensure maximum cutting and slicing force. The tsuka grip is made of wood with panels of genuine rayskin, which are wrapped with knotted premium silk tsuka ito cord. The wooden saya scabbard is well-carved with a glossed finish and a speckled silk sageo cord.

It is worth noting that minor cosmetic blemishes, such as scuffs and scratches, may be visible on the lacquer finish of the scabbard. Overall, the BattleBlades katana is a high-quality, traditionally-made sword with a unique design that would be an excellent addition to any collection or for practical use.
