Large Viking Shield with Steel Rim and Boss

This Large Viking Shield is constructed from painted wood with a central steel shield boss. The front edge of the shield is rimmed with overlapping plates of riveted steel. The reverse of the shield is blackened and the wooden central bar grip is riveted to the shield.
