Pewter Sea Lion or Merlion Brooch

The Sealion, merlion, or lion poisson are all names for the mythical sea creature used in heraldry. It is a symbol of bold actions achieved on the oceans in the services of one's country. The merlion has the head and front legs of a lion and the lower part of the merlion's body is a fish's tail. The Merlion also has webbed front feet rather then the paws of a lion.
