This type of Great Helm was designed to be worn over a smaller helmet, as was frequently done, it was almost impossible to penetrate this helm. This one is copied from one frequently shown in old illustrations and monuments.
This Great Helm is constructed from blued 16 gauge steel for a blackened finish and is embellished with a riveted cross across its front and a ring at its top which can be used to secure a plume. The helmet interior has a leather suspension liner which can be adjusted and it also has a chin strap of thick leather with an adjusting antiqued brass buckle.
