European Bascinet Helmet 62-8110

Our European Bascinet Helmet was the favored "War Helm" of the 1300 and early 1400's! During this time of transition from chain mail to plate armor, the bascinet style helm has held its place in history. Inventory of the "Duke of Gloucester's" effects drawn up in 1397 lists two bascinets for "war and jousts" and three helms (like the frogmouth) for jousts of "peace", implying an actual favor of this rounded style bascinet for glancing off blows during combat. Detailed with brass accents. Full size and wearable.
