Product Description

The Hospitaller Surcoat prominently displays the white Maltese cross on a black ground, significant in that the Hospitallers made the island of Malta their base after the Crusades. It would have provided ready recognition on the battlefield. Our historic reconstruction of the Hospitaller Surcoat is crafted in Heavy Linen, fully lined and designed to avoid excessive extra weight and heat retention.

This is a great surcoat! 2 thumbs up! my only complaint is that, despite the picture of the heavier set man wearing the surcoat (myself being a heavy set guy), it is rather small around the chest when putting it on, 5 minutes out of its packaging the seam in the armpit ripped, fortunately it was only the seam/threads, once my sewing machine is fixed i can repair it but for those of you out there who wear a business suit in a chest size of 52 and up I would not recommend this, you will rip the seams getting in and out of it, once its donned your fine but taking it on and off is were your largeness will suffer your surcoat. I plan on using a seam ripper on the side and replacing the seam with grommets to lace up the sides for easier entry.
