Suede Brigadine Ref: 9-290
One of the more popular forms of plate armor was the brigandine. Mail had been around for centuries, but as swords became higher quality, mail was becoming less effective. This early version was worn over a gambeson and mail and added an extra layer of leather with metal plates across the midriff area which was often covered by a surcoat. This early version developed into the leather brigandine that can be seen below. Our brigandine is made of suede with thin steel scales. Hand clean only.We have 1 Small Brown Left as of November 2007

Tokugaw Katana Ref: 500672-S
We have recently concluded an agreement for Hanwei, under the direction of Paul Chen to make a katana and matching wakizashi. They are superb reproductions of the style favored in the 17th C after the establishment of the Tokugawa Shogunate. They have real temper lines, with a very hard edge and a spring tempered back to make them quite strong and tough with excellent edge-holding ability. Traditional construction is used throughout, with a distinctive tsuba, matching fittings and traditional leather grip wrap. Wooden scabbards have a non-fingerprinting matte black finish. Scottish Kilt Ref: TT8-229
Colors and designs of the plaids used for Scottish Kilts conveyed no specific meaning until the 18th C. At one point in time the higher classes showed off their means with the number of extra colors their kilts displayed. This method of communicating the wearer's place in the social structure soon grew out of fashion and folks began wearing whatever they wanted. Kilts were originally pleated on the floor before being tied around the waist. We've made this attractive kilt easier for you to put on by sewing in the pleats. Looks great on lads and lassies. This sword is light, fast and flexible. Capable of delivering quick, shearing blows. Designed to oppose mail, this type of sword was raised in anger at all the battlefields of Europe from about 1050-1250. Made from high carbon steel, this 33 1/4" long blade has a narrow fuller that extends 3/4 of the blade length. The bulk and weight of the cocked hat pommel bring this sword into a fine balance. Graceful, down-curving steel crossguard. Leather covered, spiral grooved wood grip. During the romantic High Middle Ages, a period that witnessed the bloody clashes of the Third Crusade, this was one of the most attractive and deadliest of swords. Does not Include scabbard.
