Historical Flails
The flail gained popularity as one of the few weapons effective against plate armour. Cutting swords were typically unable to generate the force necessary to penetrate plate steel, but the flail was able to gather tremendous momentum when whirled at the end of an arm and could deliver a crushing blow that would incapacitate the wearer of even the strongest armour. Replicas of historic designs by Denix are, of course, for display and decoration only.
